On June 1, the “Russia Today” media group hosted an expert conference, titled “Expectations from the OPEC+ Meeting”, in which Leonid M. Grigoryev, Academic Supervisor of the School of World Economy of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University, took part.

On April 5, Professor of the School of World Economy at the Higher School of Economics Leonid Grigoryev and Associate Professor of the School of World Economy Alexandra Morozkina made a presentation on the topic "NDB and evolving agenda for development cooperation" at a conference in Durban (South Africa).

On April 13, the School of World Economy of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the Higher School of Economics held a scientific seminar on the topic “The influence of the sectoral structure and the resource sector on labor productivity: a view from the regions of Russia”.

In the interview for HSE Daily, Academic Supervisor, Professor of the School of World Economy at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs at the National Research University Higher School of Economics Leonid Grigoriev spoke about the sanctions campaign against Russia and analyzed what the global economy will face in the near future.

On October 27, an online presentation of the book by Professor Yuqing Xing (National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Japan) was held by the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS) in cooperation with the Department of World Economy of the Higher School of Economics. The presentation was dedicated to revealing the phenomenon of the Chinese export miracle through the prism of global value chains. The discussion touched upon the issues of the Chinese experience for emerging economies, the current realities of economic cycles, and the factor of US-China decoupling and its impact on the global economy.

The global economy’s pace of recovery after the pandemic largely depends on whether consumers will return to a hedonic style of consumption. At the XXII April International Academic Conference, organized by the HSE and Sberbank, the HSE School of World Economy held a round table ‘The World Economy in the Context of the Coronavirus Pandemic’.

On April 7^th School of World Economy held an open online seminar with J. Stern, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, as a distinguished speaker.

Countries with reserve currencies, sufficient fiscal capacity to implement soft fiscal policies, and access to global capital markets have the best chance of recovering from the coronavirus crisis. The rest may need external assistance. These are the conclusions drawn by Alexei Kireyev, leading IMF economist and visiting professor at HSE University’s School of World Economy.
